Evil GM: Alright, last week you got sent to the other side of the continent via the evacuation scroll. You met a ranger from Surefall Glades and had an encounter with two gnolls.

Evil GM: One gnoll is dead, the other has been knocked unconcious by Toryn.

Evil GM: This is what the current section of the road your on looks like btw..

Sunfall: Something is still moving back there

Aikira draws his sword again and looks towards the treeline

Aikira: sunfall, have you noticed it too?

Aikira: I think I saw movement

Ro looks at the strange looking creature trying to find out what it is

Sunfall: aye so did I

Aikira walks up towards to place where he think he has seen movement

Sunfall: Well I'm not going to investigate... that's a sure thing

Sunfall motions to his meatier allies

The gnoll laying unconcious on the ground starts to move around a bit

Aikira: cover me with your bow

Sunfall nods

Sunfall readies to fire at any gnoll he sees

Evil GM: Are you still going to go investigate?

Aikira is allready moving towards the place

Sunfall follows a good 35 feet behind Aikira

Aikira: sunfall ready your bow, I see three more of those creatures up ahead!!

Ro looks at Aikira as he walks off

Aikira shouts

Sunfall: well and readied

Aikira: tell the others to look after the captured one, I'm gonna get us some more

Evil GM: Ok, the new map is 200ft away from the rest of the party...that's 40 squares away

Sunfall: "Are we withdrawing then?"

Evil GM: This is what's currently going on...

Aikira: never! aikira shouts

Aikira: stand your ground, I'll engage them, you shoot

Evil GM: You have just killed and knocked out gnolls. Sunfall and Aikira think they saw movement 200ft away (40 squares) and went to investigate leaving Ro, Rand, and Toryn with the unconcious gnoll.

Aikira: I hope you have got a lot of arrows sunfall, because there a lot more gnolls over there then the three we see

Aikira almost says with childish excitment

Sunfall: luck has it I have more than arrows

Ro goes to see what Aikira and Sunfall are doing

Out of the trees pours gnolls, yipping and barking

Aikira: where is toryn when you need him, he wouldn't want to mis a party like this

Sunfall: "that is quite a few more than I was expecting..." *sigh*

Aikira slaps sunfall on the shoulder and laughs

Aikira: it's a good day to kill my friend

Evil GM: So far it's Aikira, NPCs, Sunfall..

Aikira

erus (Aikira): if they shout out to toryn can he hear them?

Evil GM: You can try

erus (Aikira): can aikira run up to the gnolls and hit them?

Evil GM: If you charge, yes you can. Otherwise you can run up and that's it.

Aikira charges and attacks the gnoll nearest to him

Evil GM: You get a +2 to your attack this round and -2 to your AC next round. Roll attack.

Aikira yells to sunfall to call for toryn and swings his blade at the gnoll

Evil GM: haha

Evil GM: The other three back with the gnoll....give me listen rolls

Evil GM: Rand and Toryn can hear what sounds like battle coming from where Aikira and sunfall took off

Evil GM: If you guys run, you can get there in 3 rounds

Toryn: " They're in trouble " announces Toryn " Let's go " .. Toryn charges towards the sounds of battle

Ro looks at Toryn running away and with one last look on the gnoll she runs off after him

Rand follows Toryn closely, motioning to Ro to run as well

A gnoll hits Aikira with it's longsword

Evil GM: The gnoll hits for 7 slashing damage

Aikira shouts out in pain and anger

Evil GM: Another gnoll wacks at aikira for 8 damage

The rest of the gnolls attempt to get their swords into the battle but fail their hits due to the crowd around the dark elf

Sunfall sends off a fireball at the gnolls, which usually would do significiant damage. However, these gnolls don't look very hurt.

Evil GM: Not this round, but the next the rest of the group will show up.

Aikira swings his blade at the same one

Aikira swings and manages to cut the gnoll through it's leather armor, but it doesn't look like it did a whole lot of damage.

Aikira: sunfall! kill the one in the center, he is a mage of some kind! aikira yells

One of the gnolls gets a good wack in and does 5 damage to Aikira

Aikira feels kinda strange and grabs his head

Vincent (Rand): did the mage do damage Phil ?

Aikira then he feels the wack and feels strange and painfull

As does another gnoll...9 dmg

Evil GM: And the last gnoll get his wack in as well..4dmg

Evil GM: Everyone else get ready...you get your appearance next round ;-)

All but two seem to get caught in Sunfall's web

Evil GM: Ok, everyone give me init rolls

Evil GM: Including Sunfall and Aikira

Toryn (Toryn): evil GM can we mark which gnolls are caught in the web ?

Petra (Evil GM): yea, the ones that don't move when it's their turn ;-)

Evil GM: New order is aikira, toryn, rand, ro, sunfall, npcs

Aikira swings his blade at the same one

Evil GM: You don't know, you wern't there when the web was cast...you just got there ;-)

Toryn: Toryn looks at the burnt ground and nods to Sunfall in passing " Well done mage ! "... Toryn charges sword drawn towards gnoll number two

Evil GM: roll it

Toryn: any flanking bonus since Aikira is on the other side ?

Evil GM: yes

Rand asks Druzzil to bestow the courage of Marr on his friends (add +2 to all attack, save and skill rolls)

Vincent (Rand): So ALL of you add +2 to attack, save and skill rolls

Evil GM: Make sure to remember it...I won't remind you *evil grin*

Ro grabs her axe and runs up feeling not to sure about this

Again, another fireball eminates from Sunfall's fingertips and flies at the trapped gnolls in the web. After the smoke dissapates, other than looking rather upset, the hair is still hardly singed on the gnoll's fur.

Toryn (Toryn): maybe not

Evil GM: No, unless the opponent has spell resistant, a caster in EQ doesn't have to make a roll to cast unless otherwise stated in the spell description

Toryn (Toryn): got it

Evil GM: If the opponent has SR, then it's simply a caster check

Evil GM: Gnolls...

Toryn: " They should be dead by now ! " snarls Toryn " They must be protected by some sort of unholy magic ! Who among them is a priest , or wizard ?!? "

Two of the gnolls attacking Aikira manage to get in mighty blows for a total of 15 damage...

Sunfall: "Aikira spoke of one in the rear suspecting of magery."

Toryn: " Point him out ! " Toryn snarls at Sunfall

Sunfall shrugs and points somewhere in the back

Evil GM: One fo the gnolls that didn't seem too caught up in the web makes it's way to Ro and hits her with it's sword (10pts of damage)

The gnoll in the very back takes a few steps back then waves his hands in the air

Aikira swings at the gnoll near ro

With a swing, aikira manages to make contact with the gnoll's flesh

Toryn: " Forgive me brother ! " Toryn calls out to Aikira and runs towards the gnoll waving his arms in the back with a grim expression on his face

Rand: damage healed to Rand's friend Aikira [4d6 = 15]

Aikira feels his powers growing again, he knows it's rand, he will thank him when this fight is over

Evil GM: Ok, the ones the arrows are pointing to failed their saves

Evil GM: The gnoll standing next to Ro hits Aikira (3 damage)

The gnoll hitting Ro gets a hit in (3 damage)

Evil GM: Both gnolls left standing attempt to break out of the web. One manages to lose his footing and falls as well on the grease

Evil GM: Toryn, Fort save please

Evil GM: I'll do the last gnoll when Andre comes back to the PC...till then, aikira go

Aikira swings at the one near ro (pa 4)

(this is still on the gnoll's turn, before the new round btw) The gnoll starts casting on Toryn. When nothing apparent happens, he starts backing up.

Toryn: " You won

Evil GM: Now Toryn can attack...just wanted to give you that chance to make the save

Toryn: " You won't escape that easily foul magician ! " shouts Toryn

Toryn: Actually can toryn attack before the gnoll moves or is he too far away now?

Evil GM: Too far away, this happened before the start of the new round..

Toryn: " Come back here coward ! " shouts Toryn charging after the gnoll again

Evil GM: No, the blasted tree is in the way

Evil GM: If you took a bit of a step to the right you would

With great agility, the gnoll manages to stay on his feet

Evil GM: The two gnolls working on Aikira both manage to get hits in (9 damage total)

Evil GM: The gnoll hitting Ro gets another strike in (8 damage total)

The gnoll infront of Toryn growls and tries casting again

A crackling sound erupts around Toryn and his skin starts turning a sickly purple color and he starts feeling somewhat feverish.

Toryn: " You shall not bring me down evil one - the Lightbringer's servants shall prevail ! " growls Toryn weakly

Evil GM: You take 4 disease damage this round then 1pt disease damage each round after this for 21 rounds

Aikira swings his blade at the same one (pa 4)

Toryn: Toryn weakly grabs at the gnoll - this is an attack roll against his touch AC (grapple attack )

Toryn (Toryn): okay we make opposed grapple checks - 1d20 plus normal attack bonus for your character class plus STR bonus

Toryn (Toryn): who wins ?

Evil GM: The gnoll ;-)

Toryn (Toryn): holy crap !

Bobby (Sunfall): gnolls on steroids!

Rand gets out his mace and swings at the gnoll closest to him (flanking with Aikira)

Evil GM: The gnoll caster starts laughing at Toryn's weak attempt at grappling him

Rand: Rand swings his mace at his target doing damage

With a mighty swing of the axe, Ro manages to make the gnoll look seriously hurt

Evil GM: The gnolls flanking Aikira continue hitting him, successfully. (19 damage total)

The gnoll hitting Ro hits for 8 damage total

erus (Aikira): maybe it's time to split :)

Toryn (Toryn): cripes and we're taking all this damage from the non-webbed gnolls ? Cripes !

Evil GM: All of the gnolls on the grease with arrows poining at them are now fallen

Toryn (Toryn): oh I see, just gnolls buffed to all hell with spells or with warrior levels or something - cripes must be the gnoll marines !

The gnoll caster looks at Toryn, barks, and swings his staff

Evil GM: The gnoll swings and hits Toryn (6 damage)

Evil GM: And don't forget the 1 disease damage ;-)

Aikira swings at the same one (pa 6)

Evil GM: It will last the next 5 rounds or until you're healed more than a quarter of your HP...and you can't use cleave or any other abilities ;-)

Toryn: " Your evil gods must be with you " growls Toryn hoarsely " But the Lightbringer shall prevail ! Let's settle this the old fashioned way " Toryn swings with his sword

As your sword strikes the gnoll, something seems to protect it and it doesn't look as injured as it should be

Rand shouts: Ro, back up !!!

With the heal, Aikira slowly comes back to his senses.

Rand then proceeds to swing at the gnoll next to him

Evil GM: You hit, give me damage

Rand: Rand swings his mace at his target doing damage

Vincent (Rand): Sorry, you loose berserker Aikira

Rand again manages to hit the gnoll with his mace

Ro turns and runs off as she is severly ingured

Bobby (Sunfall): I cast another grease

Evil GM: As the slippery substance gets under the gnoll's feet, he falls to the ground.

Bobby (Sunfall): er, I cast it at beneath the ground of the gnolls who were attacking Ro =)

Bobby (Sunfall): 10 foot radius, or well, the circle

Evil GM: Still going to fail

All the webbed gnolls still stay webbed

Gnoll 5 hits aikira for 7 damage

erus (Aikira): can't we do a coup de grass on the webbed or greased gnolls?

Evil GM: If you attack them

Toryn (Toryn): wouldn't bother if they're not attacking us though ;)

Toryn (Toryn): concentrate on the ones that are a threat e.g. up running and attacking us

The gnoll caster again laughs at Toryn, and swings his staff

erus (Aikira): isn't gnoll 5 greased?

Evil GM: He hits, but the staff slides harmlessly along the paladin's armor

Evil GM: Yes, you're right...ignore the damage.

Aikira does a coup de grace on gnoll 5

erus (Aikira): give me a break will you :)

Evil GM: Ok, here's how it works...your hit is automatic and a crit is automatic. You'll roll damage, the target will make a save and if he fails he dies. So give me damage.

Evil GM: The downside is in the future, this is a full round action.

Aikira strikes at the helpless gnoll, but fails to kill him. However, he does seem to damage the gnoll.

Kenny (Ro): isn't coup de grace only on defensless things? like sleeping people/mobs and stuff?

Evil GM: Being on the ground, unable to move is defenseless

Evil GM: And sorry...that gnoll does die anyways. ;-)

erus (Aikira): if they are webbed or greased and can't move, they are defenseless

erus (Aikira): take the icon away pete, I hate gnoll 5 :)

Toryn: " What's the matter gnoll ? Your gods didn't seem to favor you that time " growls Toryn weakly as he swings

The gnoll grins and makes a gesture...

He seems to look, healthier

Rand swings at the gnoll next to him

Ro mutters and whines as she is wounded looking at the fight from a distance

Bobby (Sunfall): how many gnolls are downed?

Evil GM: One

Bobby (Sunfall): was afraid so lol

Evil GM: The ranger warned you...beware of the gnolls!

erus (Aikira): let's get out of dodge

Bobby (Sunfall): as he trotted off whistling a tune.. =p

erus (Aikira): :)

Bobby (Sunfall): is my grease still and webs still holding?

Evil GM: The grease is off the ones you originally greased but the web is holding..the other two are still down.

Sunfall: "Would you all agree a tactical retreat is in order?"

Rand: "Yes" Rand yells over the noises of battle

Evil GM: (POLL) Retreat

Toryn: Toryn listens to the sounds of the others shouting for retreat and reluctantly turns towards the gnoll " We will meet again evil one ! " Toryn snaps at him as he withdraws

Aikira shouts out over the battle noise

Aikira: everyone get back, I'll close the line

Aikira is ashamed to give up, but he sees the battle can't be won, at least he can try to make sure everyone gets out safely

Sunfall: "Run, I will take care of the rest!"

Seeing that this battle is not one that will be easily won, the group retreats away to safety. As you run away, you can hear the sounds of celebration from the gnolls.

Evil GM: Everyone gets away

Toryn: " Here " gasps Toryn weakly " If somewhat the worse for wear "

Toryn: " This is embarassing beyond measure " snarls Toryn shaking his fist weakly in the direction of the gnolls

Evil GM: As you run away you can hear one of the gnolls yell, in choppy common, "You destroyed our lands, now we destroy yours!

Sunfall: "Strangely enough... we're not even from around here.."

Toryn (Toryn): evil GM how many rounds of disease damage does Toryn have left ?

Toryn (Toryn): at the 1 hp / round rate I mean

Aikira is ashamed, so very ashamed. he doesn't wipes the blood of his blade, he doens't care, he simply sheatens it. pain everywhere

Evil GM: I'll say maybe 10 more rounds...Rand and Ro can easily keep you healed.

Ro sits down silently

Rand sits on the ground, tired and stunned by the strength of their oponents and starts his meditation

Ro softly starts to sing hymn of restoration (1hp a tick regen)

Evil GM: Okie dokie...you manage to run away like Brave Sir Robin of Camalot....

Evil GM: Your estimations after talking to the ranger earlier in the day is you're only a few hours from Surefall Glades

Aikira puts the hood from his cloak over his head, still looking messy from the fight, and fall ons his knees, exhausted. with his shoulders hanging

Toryn (Toryn): sorry - can Rand and Ro heal everyone back up to full hit points ? E.G. you guys have enough mana ?

Kenny (Ro): i can't heal lol i'm just making u regen a bit faster

Kenny (Ro): u get 1 hp a round back

Kenny (Ro): in ur case just evens out ur disease

Toryn (Toryn): oh well eventually we'd all be back up to full hp anyways ;)

Toryn: Toryn puts his hand on Aikira's shoulder " It happens sometmies my friend - we shall go back and smite them at a later time "

Aikira just sits silently, how can he look someone in the eyes right now, he ran like a coward, his master would be ashamed of him

Rand gets up after a few minutes, feeling the uselessness of his meditation at this point

Rand walks over to Aikira and starts bandaging him and cleaning him up

Vincent (Rand): add 6 hitpoint Phil

Rand also softly speaks to Aikira

Sunfall: More gnolls... coming from all around us

Ro looks up at Sunfall with a glimpse of fear in her eyes

Rand: "Don't take this too hard, you didn't fail anyone" Rand wispers, "Sometimes you need to know when to back off to come back and beat them"

Aikira doesn't even stop rand, he hasn't got the will or power to stop rand, he takes rand by his arm but doesn't look up, and then pinches somewhat harder, he hopes the priest understands he wants to thank him

Toryn (Toryn): evil GM how many rounds worth of retreat did we get ? Determines how many hp we managed to heal so far ...

Evil GM: We'll say about 4

Rand: "You're a fine warrior Aikira and i can only hope to learn a bit of what skill you have" Rand wispers, "Now get up and stand proud, you lived another battle to see another fight"

Toryn (Toryn): okay quick Rand how many hit points can you heal in 4 rounds ? ;) ... looks like ro and Aikira need it the most

Evil GM: You made it back to the road

Bobby (Sunfall): it started with 3 last time!!

Evil GM: I'm being nice, merry christmas

Kenny (Ro): add 4 from my regen song

Rand walks over to Ro, ignoring the rest talking and bandages her quick

Vincent (Rand): add 6hp Ro

Ro looks up Rand thankfully

Aikira closes his eyes when he hears the yapping, how he hates that sound. he pulls out his katana, stands up and puts of his hood, he looks mad, very mad

erus (Aikira): kenny 4 for everyone

Kenny (Ro): yeah

Evil GM: The barking seems to be coming closer

Ro pushes herself up with a painfull look on her face,'coome we neeed to moove'

Evil GM: Are you guys making a stand? Or heading towards Surefall?

Rand nods and pulls all sittingto their feet and urges them on

Sunfall: "We should make haste, one way or another.."

Bobby (Sunfall): definetely not making a stand I hope

Rand starts walking into Surefall direction

Toryn: " Much as I hate to say this let's continue our retreat - damn I wish we had our horses ! " curses Toryn

Evil GM: (POLL) Head to surefall

Toryn: Toryn heads for Surefall as well after checking on Ro as best as he is able

Rand pats Aikira on the back and says

Wounded, sickened, and disheartened, you make way to Surefall. It takes several hours, but you are able to make it before dark.

Rand: "You lead"

Evil GM: only toryn and sunfall see the griffon dive at the party..

Evil GM: and the griffon's name is bob

Toryn (Toryn): sorry - evil GM we're all back up to full hit points now between Rand and Ro given it was several hours ?

Evil GM: As long as ro continued playing her song the entire trip yes, otherwise while walking, rand wouldn't have been able to meditate too much mana

Kenny (Ro): assuming i wasn't exhausted... i could have kept singing

Toryn (Toryn): cool we're back up to full hp then everyone it looks like

Toryn: Toryn tiredly focuses his concentration on the men in chain armor

Toryn (Toryn): Detect Evil then Detect Good

Evil GM: After several minutes of staring at the men, who makes them stare back at you, you detect neither.

Aikira puts up the hood from his cloak and gestures to ro to do the same

Toryn: " Greetings honored warriors " says Toryn tiredly " I am Toryn of the Knights of Order, in service to his holiness Mithaniel Marr - after doing battle with gnolls - a battle we lost I am sorry to say - we seek the nearest village or city where we may seek supplies

Evil GM: The two men look at one another.

Toryn: " The dark elf and orc fought bravely by our side against the gnolls " continues Toryn by way of explanation " We are a motley and varied crew, but one devoted to fighting the forces of darkness nonetheless "

The two men look at each other again.

Guard 1: Beyond this cave is Surefall Glades. We will gladly admit you entry, and you might be able to get the supplies you need. However, I'm relucant to let the dark elf within these walls.

Rand: "Don't mind the blabbering Paladin too much, he speaks the truth" Rand says, adding "even if it would kill him"

Aikira stares at the two men, ready for anything, but still walks over to ro and stand next to her.

Toryn: " I give you my word as a devoted servant of Mithaniel Marr, god of valor and light, the dark elf can be trusted " assures Toryn

Rand: "I'll stay with Aikira here outside at the entrance" Rand says to Toryn

Guard 2: Being a servant of Mithanial Marr means little in this part of the world. He has little sway in the strongholds of Karana, Quellious, and so forth.

Guard 1: I think this is a matter for Hagar and Te'Anara...enter and tell the guards on the other side that you seek their counsil.

Rand: "Go ahead Toryn, i'll wait here with Aikira, assuming the guards will let us camp out in the entrance of the cave so we stay dry" Rand says

Aikira: you can go in to rand, I'll stay here alone, they can use your guidance in there

Toryn: " The Child Goddess of peace is devoted to the forces of Light, as is Mithaniel Marr - why the monks of the Ashen Order came to our aid during a confrontation in Freeport not too long ago ! But nonetheless... "

Rand shakes his head

Toryn: Toryn turns to Aikira " I am sorry my friend, there are many who judge on appearances alone and not the warrior within - would you consider it too much of an insult to stay out here ? We can go around this city entirely if you wish .. "

Guard 1 gets a wry smile on his face.

Rand: "Quit blabbering Toryn and go in, i will keep Aikira company out here" Rand says

Ro puts her hand on Aikira's arm ,'we wiill coome baack' she says to him beaming a smile at him

Aikira pets her on the head

Sunfall: Guards, might I ask you, has gnoll activity worsened as of late? It seems certainly beyond reason to travel the road as they are in numbers now

Ro looks annoyed but smiles at Aikira

Aikira: go ahead toryn, i've got the best company a dark elf wishes for, a human wizard

Guard 1 nods to Sunfall

Aikira smiles and slaps rand on the shoulders and then winks at ro

Rand: "Me, a wizard?" Rand stammers

Toryn: " Very well " says Toryn " Thank you brother, you are most gracious "

Guard 1: They're multiplying like rabbits and finding ways to train their warriors in the art of fighting. We believe they're finding some sort of help on the otherside of Blackburrow in Everfrost.

Rand: "Then you can be Paladin today Aikira" Rand jokes

Evil GM: Ok, so Toryn goes inside alone?

Sunfall: Hmm, sounds like something to speak to with the rangers and druids within.

Aikira laughs out loud, at rands remark

Vincent (Rand): i thought Ro, Toryn and Sunfall would go in

Kenny (Ro): i go with Toryn

Sunfall bows and passes into Surefall glade

Toryn: Toryn gives the guards a final somewhat irritated look and taking Ro by the arm leads her inside

Ro sticks really close to Toryn just a step behind him halfway behind his massive shoulders

Evil GM: When you get to the otherside, a scene much like this greets you

Rand: "Aikira, once we have rested a bit, can you see if you can train me a bit in your warrior skills?" Rand asks when all the others are out of earshot

Toryn (Toryn): cool pic evil GM !

Evil GM: Thought it was quite approperiate

Aikira: sure thing rand, maybe you can skill me in tempering my rage

Toryn: " We need horses - assuming we can afford them " says Toryn, business like - " It will probably take most if not all of our coin though - what do the rest of you think ? "

Toryn: Toryn looks at Sunfall and Ro

It takes several minutes to travel through the cave and when you get to the other side there are two more guards, who look at you warely

Ro: Hoorses niice food yees

Toryn: Toryn eyes them just as warily

Toryn (Toryn): Detect Evil and Detect Good yet again

Evil GM: One doesn't detect as anything, the other detects as good

Toryn: Toryn smiles broadly at the one who has " light in his soul "

Ro waves at the guards fairly sure they don't see her as an orc as noone on this side of the continent even noticed her beeing greenskinned

Toryn: " Greetings ! I am Toryn, paladin in service to Mithaniel Marr and member of the Knights of Truth "

Rand: "Let me heal you some more before we start anything, you took an enormous beating out there" Rand says to Aikira

Evil GM: The guard nods at Toryn, more out of politeness than anything

Toryn: " After doing battle with the gnolls that plague this area - a battle we lost I am sorry to say - we seek entrance into your fair city to gather supplies "

Rand: "Now, to your rage" Rand starts

Toryn: " Do you know if horses - or some other mount - are available for sale ? "

The guard nods again

Rand: "I find it hard to contain myself as well, many times i want to blast, smash and hit monsters and undead too" Rand says,

Evil GM: Well, I'm not sure about horses. You can go in and see what they have. Resources are becoming limited due to trade slowing down because of those miserable creatures.

Evil GM: Eeek...that's guard 1

Aikira nods intently

Rand: "But everytime i try to remember the one golden rule"

Toryn: " Then we thank you most graciously " says Toryn ... with a polite bow (much more courtesy than he showed the first set of guards) Toryn walks by the guard, gently tugging Ro with him

Rand: "Do not run in before you know your oponents strength and weakness, use that information when you strike and to avoid being hit"

erus (Aikira): dre look for bows and arrows

Guard Bob: Not far into the glade you see a man dressed in chain armor and a woman dressed in leather armor talking.

Ro: 'i aam Ro' she says to the guards while Toryn drags her along

Toryn (Toryn): oh believe me Toryn's got that on his mind - he's looking for payback !

Rand: "If you follow that rule and try not to give in to your rage, you will be a hero in short order"
